Privacy policy

Construction Quote is a small software product built and run in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We make the link a contractor sends you and the page you record your video on. We are not a contractor, we do not do the work, and we do not set the price.

You can reach us at info@davidperron.ca. That address is monitored and it is the right place for anything on this page.

• You send a video and your contact details to one contractor, the one who gave you the link. Nobody else receives them.
• There is no marketplace, no bidding and no lead sharing. We do not sell your information and we do not pass it to other contractors.
• Your video is kept in private storage. It is opened through a link that expires about an hour after it is created, and only your contractor is given one.
• You can ask us to delete everything you sent by emailing info@davidperron.ca.

When you use a contractor’s link, the form asks you for the following. All of it goes to that contractor so they can understand the job and get back to you.

• Your video of the job. We also record how long it is, how large the file is, and what format your phone produced.
• The address where the work is needed, including the city and postal code, so the contractor knows where they would be going.
• How soon you need it: as soon as possible, within two weeks, this month, or just planning ahead.
• Your name, phone number and email address, so the contractor can call, text or email you back.
• Any written note you add about the job.

We also generate a reference number for the request and record the date and time you sent it.

We ask for these because a contractor cannot quote a job without seeing it, cannot plan a visit without an address, and cannot reply without a way to reach you. We do not ask for anything beyond that, and there is no account to create.

One contractor. The link you opened belongs to a single business, and a request sent through it is attached to that business when it is created. This is enforced in the database, not by a setting somebody could change by accident.

No other contractor can see your request. It is not listed, posted or advertised anywhere. We do not sell, rent or trade your contact details, and we do not use your video for advertising.

A contractor can choose to have new requests forwarded automatically into a system they run themselves, for example their own job scheduling software. If yours has set that up, the details of your request are sent there too. Once information reaches a contractor’s own systems, how they handle it is up to them.

Videos are stored in a private bucket that has no public read access at all. There is no address anyone can guess or share that will play your video.

When your contractor opens the video, our server creates a temporary link for it. That link stops working about an hour after it is made, and a new one has to be created the next time. This is why you will not find your video sitting at a permanent web address.

We use Supabase for the database, file storage and sign-in, and Lovable for hosting and deploying the site. Both are service providers acting on our instructions. They operate servers in more than one country, so your information may be stored or processed outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of the country it is held in.

Like any website, those providers keep ordinary server logs. Those logs include things such as IP addresses and the time of a request, and are used to keep the service running and secure.

We are being straight about this: we do not yet delete anything on a schedule. A request and its video stay in the system until you or the contractor asks us to remove them, or until we delete the contractor’s account. When we set a retention period, we will publish it here and say so before it takes effect.

To have your video and contact details deleted, email info@davidperron.ca from the address you gave on the form, or tell us the reference number on your request. We will remove it and confirm when it is done. We may keep a minimal record that a deletion was requested, so we can show it was carried out.

Deleting your copy with us does not delete anything the contractor has already saved, written down or forwarded into their own systems. For that, ask them directly.

Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies to us. Under it you can:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong, such as a mistyped address or phone number.
• Ask us to delete what you sent.
• Withdraw your consent, though we cannot un-send a video the contractor has already watched.
• Complain to us, and if you are not satisfied, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Email info@davidperron.ca for any of these. We aim to answer within 30 days, which is the period PIPEDA sets for access requests.

When you sign up we hold your email address, your name, your business name, the trades and areas you work in, your city and postal code, and a phone number if you give one. We use it to run your account and to put your business name on the page your customers open.

The customer requests that arrive on your link contain another person’s home address and video. You are responsible for handling them properly, keeping them to people in your business who need them, and answering your own customers if they ask you to delete something.

Sending a video does not require an account, and we do not put advertising or tracking cookies on the page where you do it. If you sign in to the contractor portal, your browser stores a sign-in session so you are not asked for your password on every page.

Every table in our database denies access by default and only opens up for the specific person entitled to a row. Video storage has no public read access. Traffic to the site is over HTTPS.

No system is perfect. If we ever discover a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and report it as PIPEDA requires.

The job itself is between you and the contractor. The quote, the price, the schedule, the workmanship and any deposit are theirs, not ours. We pass along what you send and nothing more. If you have a dispute about the work, it is with them.

If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Anything that materially reduces your privacy will be said plainly rather than slipped in.
